- Travel brings a couple together. Shared adventure + shared experience = growth in intimacy
- Getting away gives a couple needed time to converse and connect.
- The luxury of undivided attention: Without children in the mix, couples can give one another their complete focus.
- New experiences spur fresh discussion topics about past experiences, present life and future dreams.
- Couples discover things they did not know about their spouse—even if they’ve been married for years.
- Getting out of the normal routines and one’s comfort zone forces an individual to stretch, grow and flex—and the same goes for a couple. (The goal, of course, is to learn how to do that together.)
- Sex in a foreign location can be the best you’ve had in a while…
- Discovering what your spouse wishes to see among the sites (vs. what you would like to see) might surprise you.
- Utter relaxation. Sleep in, go to bed early…or late. Your time is your own and not interrupted by rugrats.
- Children understand that travel is a gift, not a requirement, and the next time they get to go, appreciate it all the more.
BONUS: You’ll miss your kids and look forward to the next family adventure!
