Why do we consider travel a basic desire nowadays? In 2008, only 30 percent of trips over 50 miles were done for business - the rest- for pure pleasure. Work is nerve-racking, the family needs to be fed and money is and will always be a problem. Meanwhile, there are hot deals on flights, romance is in the air in Paris no matter the season and life is still waiting for you at the corner

Thanks so much for including Travel Mamas in your round-up! The pools in my post on the "10 Best Family-Friendly Pools in the World" include a few from Europe & Central America too! If I'm ever in Montana, I'll have to check out the indoor waterpark you mentioned - sounds fabulous!

What a great, inspiring collection! Thanks so much for including us! By the way, Mozart was 5 when we started our non-stop travel, but is 9 years old now. ;) Time flies!

We've traveled over 175,000 mile so far, most overland, to 4 continents & 32 countries since 2006 on our open ended world tour, and we haven't found a place yet that's not great for families! ;)

Family travel doesn't have to be expensive either, we've been traveling the world & living large on just 23 dollars a day per person since 2006, which is MUCH, much less than we lived on at home & we've focused on "expensive" Europe so far. We spent almost a month in Cinque Terra, but lived like locals, so hardly cost anything & we were so enriched by our Italian neighbors.

Swimming with dolphins in Portugal, watching 2 operas in Verona's ancient Roman coliseum, biking & boating the Danube in Austria's wine & castle country, gobbling dumplings in Krakow, Poland's Pierogi festival, exploring the stunning hidden beaches & Dali museums on the Costa Brava, and seeing beautiful Budapest in the fall were a few of our other highlights this year. So hard to pick one!

Travel is the best possible education so I hope this post motivates more families to travel together! From exploring your local area to exotic perfect family trips to the Sahara or Turkey or hidden gems in Europe & beyond, the world calls! ;)
