Okay, this seemed a little gimicky to me, but my kids were excited to try tubing at the Coca Cola Tubing Hill, and I figured we should give it a whirl. And it was totally worth it. If you reserve your space and time online, in advance, you can save a few bucks, and you get more than enough runs in your hour allotment. Arrive half an hour before your reserved time so you can sign waivers inside at Guest Services (building right in front of you when you hop off the bus).
Some other things to know:
- Kids 36″ and taller can go
- They have double tubes, so you can ride with a child beside you
- You can form trains or groups of individual tubes
- Attendants will set you off “straight” or “spin you” upon request
- There are five tubing channels, each progressively faster as you move left (we were pretty content in channels #1-3)
- You walk/haul tube over the flat area and then ride a “magic carpet” up the steep part of the hill
- You want to wear snow clothes to keep warm/dry
- In March, our 5:00 reservation put us there right at sunset
- My husband, who has a bad back, was worried about trying it, but because the channels are so smooth, and you’re riding on an inner tube, you hardly feel any bumps
- JJ’s is a family-friendly tavern with great looking food; good place to go warm up and grab a bite afterward
